Radio BGM members, volunteers and trustees recently came together for the charity’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), an evening dedicated to reflecting on the achievements of the past year, celebrating the people who make the station possible, and looking ahead to an exciting future.
The AGM provided an opportunity to review the charity’s progress over the last 12 months, highlighting the impact Radio BGM continues to have on patients, visitors and staff across Prince Philip Hospital and the wider community. Members also discussed the charity’s goals and objectives for the year ahead, including plans to further strengthen services, grow volunteer engagement and continue investing in the future of hospital radio in Llanelli.
A key part of the evening was recognising the dedication and commitment of Radio BGM’s volunteers through the presentation of long service awards.
The charity was delighted to honour its longest-serving volunteer, Nicholas Heath, who received a remarkable 35 Years Long Service Award. The recognition follows Nicholas receiving Radio BGM’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the station’s 50th Anniversary Gala in 2024, acknowledging his decades of service and unwavering commitment to the charity.

The evening also marked an important milestone for Nevil Williams, who received a 20 Years Long Service Award. Nevil has served as one of Radio BGM’s longest-standing Trustees and, after two decades of dedicated service on the Board, is now retiring from his trustee role. Everyone at Radio BGM extends their sincere thanks to Nevil for his commitment, guidance and support over the years. We are delighted that he will remain part of the Radio BGM family as an Honorary Member of the charity.
Five-year long service awards were also presented to:
- Laura Evans
- Nicola Casling
- Linda Williams
- Gale Morgan-Williams
- Kenneth Rees
Their dedication, enthusiasm and commitment have played an important role in supporting Radio BGM’s work and ensuring the station continues to provide companionship, entertainment and comfort to listeners throughout the hospital.
In addition to the long service presentations, volunteers were each presented with personalised thank you cards, handwritten by Volunteer Manager Gale Morgan-Williams, recognising the contribution every member makes to the charity.
The evening concluded with a special presentation to Gale herself, as members celebrated her recent Unsung Hero Award from the Hospital Broadcasting Association Awards. The award recognises Gale’s exceptional dedication to volunteers, patients and the wider hospital community, and was met with a well-deserved round of applause from everyone in attendance.

As Radio BGM looks ahead to another exciting year, the charity remains incredibly grateful for the passion, commitment and generosity of its volunteers, whose efforts continue to make a real difference every day.
Diolch yn fawr to all our volunteers, trustees and supporters for helping Radio BGM continue its mission of bringing comfort, companionship and great radio to Prince Philip Hospital and beyond.
