We’re always on the lookout for individuals who are committed, willing to learn, willing to help out with fundraising and have a passion for music and entertainment.
Volunteering with Radio BGM is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of patients at Prince Philip Hospital and the wider Llanelli community. Your involvement helps bring joy, comfort, and entertainment to those in hospital care, many of whom rely on our broadcasts for connection and companionship. Whether you’re passionate about radio, community service, or simply making a positive impact, volunteering with Radio BGM is a meaningful way to give back.
We offer a variety of volunteer roles, including:
- Presenters: Hosting live shows or pre-recorded segments.
- Producers: Assisting with the technical aspects of radio production.
- Ward Visitors: Gathering patient song requests and interacting with listeners at the hospital.
- Fundraisers and Promoters: Helping with community outreach and events to support the station.
- Technical Support: Managing the equipment and ensuring smooth broadcasting.
- Social Media & Marketing Support: Assisting our Brand team to create engaging promotions and content.
There’s something for everyone, whether you’re a radio enthusiast or just looking to help out behind the scenes.
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life! Due to our commitment to safeguarding, volunteers must be at least 18 years old. There may be additional requirements for certain roles, like background checks for those visiting hospital wards, but these will be discussed during the application process.
We offer flexible volunteering schedules based on your availability. Some roles may require a weekly commitment, such as hosting a regular show, while others, like fundraising events or technical support, may be more ad-hoc. You can discuss your availability during the application process, and we’ll work to find a role that fits your schedule, whilst being able to provide a regular commitment.
No prior experience is necessary for most roles! We welcome anyone with a passion for community service and a willingness to learn. For presenting or technical roles, an interest in radio or a basic understanding of audio equipment can be helpful, but we provide full training. All we ask is that you bring enthusiasm and a friendly attitude!
All volunteers receive an orientation session to introduce you to the station, our equipment, and the role you’ll be performing. Presenters and technical volunteers will receive additional hands-on training to ensure you’re comfortable operating the broadcasting tools. Our experienced team will support you every step of the way, and there will always be someone to assist if you have questions.
As a volunteer, you’ll gain valuable experience in broadcasting, communications, and team collaboration. For those interested in media careers, this can be a great stepping stone. You’ll also enjoy the fulfilment of contributing to a worthwhile cause and being part of a vibrant, supportive community.
We’re excited to be part of the Tempo Time Credits scheme, which allows our volunteers to earn credits for their service with us. These Tempo Time Credits can then be exchanged for meaningful activities and events within the community.
Radio BGM operates out of Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli.
