On Friday 11th July, we were honoured to welcome Miss Sara Edwards, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dyfed, to officially open our newly refurbished Studio 1 at Radio BGM.
Her visit marked a proud moment in the station’s history, as we celebrated the completion of a significant upgrade to our broadcast facilities – an investment that will benefit our volunteers, listeners, and wider community for years to come.
2024 was a milestone year for Radio BGM. Alongside our 50th anniversary celebrations and increased community outreach, we successfully secured funding through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF). This support enabled a complete refurbishment of our main studio – transforming it into a modern, accessible and industry-standard facility.
Now fitted with the latest digital audio equipment, our new Studio 1 rivals the technical quality of national broadcasters, allowing us to continue delivering professional, high-quality programming at the heart of Prince Philip Hospital and beyond.
We were incredibly grateful to receive the Lord-Lieutenant, who spent time meeting volunteers, learning about the station’s legacy and impact, and unveiling a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.
David Hurford, Chairman of Radio BGM, said:
“It was a true privilege to welcome Miss Sara Edwards to open our new studio. This refurbishment represents more than just new equipment – it’s about investing in our volunteers, improving the patient experience, and creating a space that inspires the next generation of broadcasters. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and grateful to everyone who helped make it happen.”
We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Miss Sara Edwards for taking the time to visit and for her kind words of support. This moment marked another exciting chapter in Radio BGM’s journey – and we can’t wait to share what’s next.
