Radio BGM, Llanelli’s community hospital radio station, is now broadcasting on 94.9FM, reaching Prince Philip Hospital and the surrounding area.

At 11am on Saturday 21st June, the station officially launched its FM service with a special live show hosted by former BBC broadcaster Lyn Morgan and local artist and presenter Mal Pope, marking an exciting new chapter in the station’s journey.

Following a hugely successful 50th anniversary year in 2024, the FM launch represents another major milestone – making Radio BGM even more accessible to patients, staff, and the wider Llanelli community.

Broadcasting daily, Radio BGM delivers a lively mix of music from the past five decades, local news and information, and guest interviews – proudly offering the only truly local radio service for Llanelli.

David Hurford, Chairman of Radio BGM, said:

“BGM is already available via our free mobile app and smart speaker, but this development means we can now reach even more listeners and offer a truly local service to the hospital and surrounding area.

The FM launch was only possible thanks to the generous support of the Prince Philip Hospital League of Friends, who funded the new FM equipment. We’re incredibly grateful for their kindness and continued support.

Thanks also go to the local Hywel Dda Health Board management team, who helped us site and install the FM mast.

This is a really exciting new chapter for us, and I’m proud of everything the team has achieved. I hope even more people will enjoy tuning in on 94.9FM.”

Listeners who missed the launch can catch up via BGM Again, the station’s on-demand listen-back service, available through the free Radio BGM mobile app or on the website.
