Radio BGM is delighted to share award success following the Llanelli Town Council 50th Anniversary event held at the Diplomat Hotel, Llanelli on October 19th.
Like the Town Council, Radio BGM is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
Radio BGM were very fortunate to receive the award for contribution to Arts and Culture following a nominations process.
Formed in 1974, Radio BGM has given hundreds of local people of all ages a platform to learn radio presenting and technical skills – and all for the benefit of hospital patients and staff, as well as the wider local community of Llanelli.
Radio BGM chairman David Hurford said: “Llanelli is a town with so much creative and cultural talent, so it’s a privilege to have won this award – and we extend our thanks to Llanelli Town Council for their recognition and support.
“We’re very proud to have been at the heart of the Llanelli community for 50 years but we wouldn’t haven’t been able to achieve anything without the hundreds of volunteers who have given up their time over the years to learn radio skills and benefit others.
“And Radio BGM continues to go from strength to strength, with a number of further improvements currently being made thanks to a Shared Prosperity Fund grant from Carmarthenshire Council through the UK Government.
“We’ll continue to attend as many local events as possible to further raise awareness of the station and to give hundreds more volunteers the chance to contribute to Llanelli’s booming cultural and arts community in future.
