Dug is no Radio BGM novice, having been a presenter for over 2 years, Dug has won over our hearts with his on-air charm, and double act mastery with Coffee Club co-host Alessandro. But how much do we really know about Doug? We decided to find out….

Tell us a bit about yourself…

I’m 6’2” and a Gemini.

How long have you been with BGM?

2 years now. I started on the Wednesday night show, then expanded and began the Sunday Coffee Club with Alessandro as well! Through the pandemic I wasn’t able to do both, but never fear – The Wednesday show will return!

What’s your show about?

The coffee club is one competent presenter (Alessandro) with me messing around in the background.  We have a laugh and try to make each other laugh.  He once played the Ant and Dec attempt at an England football song and Made me laugh for 15 minutes straight!

What is your favourite era of music, and why?

I’m a huge 90’s fan, hence the feature 90’s vs now.  It’s the music of my youth, but I have a huge range of favourites including 70’s funk, heavy metal and house music.

Do you have a particular ‘fond’ or early memory of a certain Artist, or Song?

There are so many! Cornershop – ‘Brimful of Asha’ reminds me of college, but I’m going to have to go with the birdie song.  My mum rang into Swansea Sound and got them to dedicate a song to me for my 6th birthday and that’s what they played and I fell in love with radio (although in those days I thought there was a band in the studio playing all the tunes). 35 years later I started working for Swansea Sound in sales!

What’s your ‘Desert Island Disc’?

That’s easy.  My greatest musical love is Roxette, so it would have to be their greatest hits album ‘Don’t bore us, get to the chorus!’

Finally, If you could present a Radio Show with ANY celeb, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

The Togmeister himself, Terry Wogan.  I’ve always loved radio but he made me love it more.   He’s also the only radio presenter who has ever made me pull over as I couldn’t drive anymore due to laughter.

We’ve loved getting to know more about Dug. You can listen to the Coffee Club from 9am on Sunday.
